The Anthem Technology Center in Midtown Atlanta is a 21-story, 352,000 sf, Class A office building that serves as an information and software development hub for the Anthem health insurance company. The office tower can accommodate up to 3,000 employees and IT contractors. Its sleek exterior glazing and architectural features create an alluring façade, making this building stand out beautifully within the Atlanta skyline. Maintaining a modern but more industrial design in the main lobby, the architectural team decided to soften the entryway with eye catching warm wood ceiling and wall features.
The project was designed by Portman Architects, led by Portman Holdings and DPR Construction. Acousti was chosen by DPR to provide the wood ceilings and wall panels, which serve as the primary architectural feature in the main lobby of the building. The lighting, HVAC, sprinkler piping, suspension systems and panel lay out all had to be closely coordinated to give the appearance of a seamless transition between panels. Further coordination was required to accommodate the designers fitting tribute to the occupants of this building by laying out the panel perforations in such a pattern that they spell out the word “Anthem” in binary code. A task that Acousti carried out with robotic precision by utilizing our CAD driven layout equipment.
