In 2016, Orlando Police Department’s new 80,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art Crime Scene Facility was completed. The goal of the new facility was to take the dated, 40 year old building, and turn it into a completely renovated space with the latest technology.
The Crime Scene Facility houses the department’s secure Property and Evidence Unit Storage, Crime Scene Unit’s processing labs, training components, and miscellaneous storage spaces. Also included are vehicular access to the vehicle processing labs for the Crime Scene Unit and additional staff parking areas.
Acousti Engineering Company of Florida had the task of installing the flooring, metal framing, drywall and acoustical ceilings for the new facility – all of which can have some challenges when working with an older building. Floors needed to be leveled, the building was inspected for any possible mold, and overall the project needed a bit of prep before the real work could begin.
Once those areas were addressed, the rest of the project went smoothly, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. With all of the work done, this facility made a much-needed jump into the future of crime scene investigation.
Acousti accomplished this project with the high-level quality and dedication that we’re known for. We’re proud to have worked on such a crucial part of the Orlando community.
