Being able to detect potential problems before starting a build not only saves time, but also decreases the headaches involved when designing a project. Using this concept with one of our new projects, the Atlanta Falcons Stadium, Acousti Engineering Company of Florida, an industry leader on interior systems, has teamed up with Atlanta Stadium Partners to solve potential problems before beginning this new project.
Building Information Modeling, or BIM, is the process of creating digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of places. This provides insights that help you plan, design, construct, and manage a project. In the case of the Atlanta Falcons Stadium, Acousti Engineering Company of Florida utilizes this 3D rendering of the building to map out exactly where everything will be located in the stadium, down to the ductwork and signage.
By using BIM, we are able to reduce uncertainty, improve safety, discover potential impacts, and make adjustments in the event we locate a problem. By doing this now, we are able to prefabricate many aspects of the build, limit material waste, and save time during the actual build. Once a week during the project, we will sit down with the BIM team to go through the next phase of the build. Using the building model, we will then map out where the walls, ceilings, ceilings details, ductwork and more will be located so that the project never runs into any structural problems.
We are excited to be part of the new Atlanta Falcons Stadium project and have many more tricks and interesting design aspects that will be going into it, so check back to find out more.
