Acousti was selected as the Ceiling Systems Contractor on the new Blackbaud World Headquarters building located on Daniel Island in Charleston Harbor. The new facility was intended to provide a creative and dynamic workplace for one of the world’s leading Cloud Software companies. Designed to connect leading edge technology with an eco friendly environment, the new building will also serve as an innovation and meeting center for Blackbaud’s global operations. Due to the aggressive completion schedule and specialized components, Balfour Beatty Construction assembled an elite group of experienced subcontractors to insure timely and successful completion.
The workspaces on this project were scheduled to receive the USG Logix Integrated Ceiling System with custom grid modules to accommodate the owner’s state of the art ceiling mounted fixtures and equipment. The complex grid layout, along with extensive category “D” seismic bracing in the plenum, required close coordination with MEP trades throughout the installation process.
The unique Topakustik wood wall & ceiling system located in the common areas was imported from Europe for this project, the materials long lead time leaving no room for error. Acousti worked closely with the ceiling manufacturer and plenum trades to provide the field engineering and modifications necessary for fixture and device compatibility. The progressive nature of this system often required ceiling mounted fixtures and wood panels to be installed simultaneously.
Blackbaud is a respected member of the Charleston community, both as an employer as well as through its many philanthropic initiatives. We appreciated the opportunity to be a member of the team on this important project.
